Could blockchains power PV energy transactions in future?

Prior to the Dutch Blockchain Conference next week PV platform Solarplaza had an interview with Vincent Everts, one of the organisers of the event. He clarified the future of energy and how the blockchain can become the database system for decentralised energy production.

“We’re going to decentralised energy production and you’re going to have a huge amount of suppliers and a huge amount of production and producers” he explained.

To keep track of the financial and energy exchanges between all these actors the blockchain could be a welcome solution rather than trusted third parties. It’s decentralised, more open, safe and transparant. Last month Nasdaq explored how blockchain could fuel the solar energy market. A blockchain application allowed people to sell certificates for solar energy.
